Featured comments: Members should not be hired to work for LLHOA to avoid conflict of interest

Updated: May 30, 2020

She knows she was terminated because she was sent a letter and refused to take the letter Michael gave her in person, but filmed him instead.

I think members of the HOA shouldn’t be hired to work at the club unless it is as a contractor. This problems from this past year, including the current issue of terminating an employee who lives in the community, has shown that people who have something to personally gain from a board election, namely their employment, will do anything - including spreading false information - to prevent change. This can’t happen again.

LLHOA supporter, I agree with you. But, I think it should go further that even the contractor should be a non-LLHOA member.

In my opinion, any HOA activities in which HOA members are involved should be on a volunteer basis without monetary compensation, to avoid conflict of interest. If the HOA needs to hire a person or company to do a job in exchange for monetary compensation, it should always hire an outsider (Non- LLHOA member). This way, if the HOA is not satisfied with their work, the Board or the members can vote to terminate them without causing a divide within the LLHOA. It is always LLHOA vs. outsider, instead of one group of LLHOA members vs. another group of LLHOA members. It is a much cleaner approach.

I think a clause in this nature should be added to the Bylaws to prevent this chaos from happening again in LLHOA.

This will also effectively prevent any property management company set up by any HOA member from taking over the management of our HOA.

Judee can ask Chris to pay her. Apparently, he’s still her boss. It has nothing to do with LLHOA, but in their make believe world, make believe association and make believe jobs, they still play make believe ceo and make believe executive assistant.

There’s a cost to everything - even in make believe.

LLHOA supporter commented:

Paul and Mike could put the community above their loyalty to Chris and acknowledge the overwhelming election results. They could take their seats on the board and work together to fix the budget and find a restaurant. Why are they even on the board if they just want to win a majority so they can just hand over all of their responsibilities to Chris? They seriously are fighting to control the board so they can then hand over their power and responsibilities to Chris. It makes zero sense. Step aside and let people run who actually want to do the work of the board!
