Christopher Todd Barone reacts defiantly to new Board's restructuring

Updated: May 30, 2020

Christopher T. Barone reacted defiantly to being notified, on 12/31/2019, his position had been eliminated as part of a restructuring by the HOA management by the New Board.

  • The day he learned the new board had control of the point of sales system and he did not, the computer terminals were removed from the pro shop and pub.

  • The day he learned that the new board had control of the alarm system, the alarm system was disabled with parts removed.

  • The day he learned that the locks had been changed at the clubhouse, he called an unlicensed locksmith** to change the locks again, so he had the key and the new board did not.

  • When he learned that the new board had control of the financial system, income, expenses and payroll, he notified some vendors to pay their rent to him.

Based on the information available at this time, he tried to change where the dues, revenue and vendor payments would be sent from the existing LLHOA account to an account linked to his new management business he started on 10/31/2019.  Click to view Corporation registration and Statement of information of the company, both are public records listed on the Secretary of State website https://businesssearch.sos.ca.gov/.

These actions inflicted immeasurable damage to our Homeowners Association's operation and management at a considerable cost to the HOA.  Currently, pro shop’s cash register is a wooden box and there is no system to process charges. An employee said Mr. Barone stated he was in charge and if the employee did not follow Barone’s instructions he would be fired.

Can you imagine anyone else reacting to being notified by their employer that their position no longer existed and they were no longer an employee by defiantly claiming they were not fired and their boss did not have the authority to fire them, then changed the locks, etc…?

** Note: Operating as an unlicensed locksmith in the State of California is a felony.
